His name is Slimey...

Lizzie was begging for a chick at the farm store this morning, but gladly settled for a pet snail that we found while working in the yard later on. She was surprised when I agreed to make a house for him and she checked on him at least hourly throughout the day...even stopping to hold him and play with him. Later on this evening, she even found a friend for him, so now he has a roommate to share his ice cream bucket with. All I know is...that's 2 less snails destroying my garden! Even Dillon agreed that Lizzie is braver than him, because he would not want to have a snail climbing on his hand, whether it tickled or not! Mckay's first suggestion was that Lizzie should give him a salt lick to keep him healthy. She saw right through his deception and insisted that it wasn't a good idea. Maybe that's why Mckay was never as lucky as her to have been given a pet snail...he simply doesn't know what needs to be done to make them thrive. Bonding Moments Home Sweet Home. Riv...

Spring Break

Utah weather is the best. Where else can you have a beautiful sunny day followed by a blizzardy day bringing a foot of fresh powder, followed by a cool, windy kite-flying day, followed by more sun? I spent most of the week trying to feel well again, but we did manage to have a few adventures... This picture makes me laugh because Ashlyn is clearly NOT having fun playing chess with Lizzie. Emma had a blast having a "little sister" for the weekend. And Lizzie didn't mind the attention at all. Sam and Emma, having fun in the snow on day 1 of the blizzard. You can even see the snow falling in front of Sam's nose. Emma, of course, thought the snow storm was the coolest thing ever. My poor tulips. Ian still loves walking in the snow. No sledding or rolling around...just walking. On the train at the zoo with aunts, cousins and Nana. Cousins at the zoo. These tiger statues were the only wild cats we saw that day. Tulips are my favorite part of spring. Me and my kiddo...

Mrs. Paroo

Sam did great in the performances of "The Music Man" this weekend. Dillon was bummed because strep throat kept him quarantined and he wasn't able to see the play at all. We're all jumping for joy, not just because she did a fabulous job, but because it's finally over and we'll have her back around more often! Here's a peek at her 3 main scenes: This one starts out slowly, but the song is really cute and she does a great job on it. Also, I'm sorry about the bald guy's head that keeps coming into view. It's hard to video tape inconspicuously, even if you're sitting close to the stage! I love the line on here where he lists all the non Irish "Irish names" to prove that you have to be Irish to be a good musician, and she says in the cutest brogue, "But, we are Irish!" Sam hates the little jig they do at the end of this clip, but as a proud mom I still think it's great!

Wedding Festivities

Well, my "littlest" sister is finally married. We all are exhausted today, but we had a blast celebrating with friends and family yesterday. Here are some classic shots... Katie and the little girls Katie and Fish with sisters Apparently "we're all a little nutty" applies to the whole lot of us. Sorry you found out too late, Fish! Two princesses I'm glad that the crankiness that it took to get everyone to stand together for this photo isn't obvious in our fake serene poses. Ian was a pill for most of the night, only wanting to watch the construction trucks working on the trax station next door, but fortunately, he calmed for Aunt Katie for a few moments. Mckay was more grown up during the reception than I've ever seen him before, politely clearing tables and helping where needed. This is about 20 minutes before the party was over...he apparently was in need of some dancing to release his tension. Go Mckay! These three lovely ladies had...
