On turning 40

I have been looking forward to this birthday for a long time because it means I can now legitimately feel old.  Plus, it's a good opportunity to celebrate the great life that I have.  And so we did.  My favorite part was a serenade from my brother-in-law. Every year he calls me and sings the phrase, "Lisa, it's your birthday...Happy Birthday, Lisa," from the Simpson's episode where Bart and a Michael Jackson wanna be sing the song to Lisa.   This year, my birthday serenade was the entire song with all the lyrics, and he sang it with gusto and skill, and he made me smile.  It's nice to have family that loves you enough to risk making a fool of themselves to celebrate with you.  Here's the original version since we didn't film my personal serenade: Lisa's birthday serenade And while we're sharing our Michael Jackson secrets, here's the poster that hung on my wall for a few months when I was a teenager...I had to take it down because i...

Sudden Interest in Basketball

When I married Lee, the sports fan in me died.  I used to follow all of the BYU football stats, and was a big Utah Jazz fan.  He didn't get the same high off of it as I did, and we were poor college students with a tv the size of a shoebox, so I eventually lost interest by default.  In the last month, we have been the lucky recipients of floor seats to both a BYU basketball game AND a Utah Jazz game.  Complete with dinner and treats before and during the game.  Royal treatment and good basketball, too!  It has been fun to get in touch with my former sports fan self, even if only for a brief while.  And Lee enjoyed himself, too.  Here's us at the Jazz game.  Did I mention FLOOR seats?
