I FLIP for Spring -- literally

I LOVE working in my yard -- especially all the stuff that leads up to the vegetable garden and summer flower beds. I've spent several days the last few weeks cleaning out my flower beds, raking and trimming debris leftover from fall, and fixing some bare spots in the lawn. My seedlings are growing indoors and I've got several more yard improvement projects planned. I've been looking forward to this all week because I love the physical labor involved and I certainly need the exercise. I even had to be bossy with my father-in-law and insist that he let me push the wheelbarrow loads (uphill all the way back) to the garden -- mostly because I wanted the exercise for myself, but also because I wanted to make sure they got dumped where I wanted them. With one wheelbarrow load to go, I was casually walking back to the front yard with the empty wheelbarrow (dow...

I Do Not Like Green Eggs and Ham!

Ian refused the eggs, because their color was alarming and he was certain they would taste gross. (Interestingly enough, there is something about eating a miscolored food item that makes it taste different, even if only psychologically.) When we revisited the green milk at lunchtime, Ian was surprised (he hadn't noticed it on the breakfast table) and asked if I made it green by putting the green eggs in it. He finally decided to taste it and declared it to be gross. But that was quickly remedied with a bit of Nestle Quik. Lee has the Irish flag hanging next to our kitchen table and Ian suggested that maybe I should color things orange (the other colored stripe) instead of green. Can't wait til we have our Irish Brown bread, Split Pea Soup, and "Green Slime" (Pistac...

Did you see Phyllis?

Since most of you who read this blog know her, I thought I'd show you her great t.v. appearance. Wish I could sound so intelligent and look so at ease if I was on t.v.! http://www.abc4.com/content/about_4/gtu/featured_on/story/Allyses-Bridal-Shows-off-Modest-Dresses/qw-MApmS40WWySR6KCIAeA.cspx
