Hiking to Heaven
On Saturday, we celebrated 26 years of marriage by hiking to the top of the world with some friends. Some of the things that were said in meetings I attended yesterday reminded me that it was an analogy for life here on earth and our journey back to live with our Father in Heaven. 1. Sometimes we think we know what we signed up for. HIKING: It took about 4 hours round-trip last time, right? HEAVEN: I've seen other people do this and it looked super easy. 2. Sometimes we think we won't make it and can't go on. HIKING: My heart is pounding and my legs are shaking. Plus I have blisters the entire length of my big toes. HEAVEN: This is way too hard for me. I don't have the skills (or faith) to endure this any longer. 3. Friends make the journey much more enjoyable. HIKING: Talking and laughing and sharing together makes the time fly.
