Photographs Do Not Adequately Capture the Beauty!
Our Redwoods vacation was perfect. It was a LOT of driving (like as in, we could have driven from California to New York), but it was beautiful and we had a good time together. Since we have become experts in finding free campsites, we only had to pay to camp 2 of the 6 nights we were traveling. We spent a day in Lassen Volcanic National Park and then 3 days in Redwoods National Park (with 2 days worth of driving in between). Here are some of the highlights (even though the photographs don't do it justice). The kids wanted to taste the Bonneville Salt Flats, so we found a "cleanish" spot... After two giant beetles landed nearby, Lizzie had second thoughts about sleeping out on the tarp under a tree (instead of setting up our tents) in our campsite. Halfway up on our way to Lassen Peak, the world's largest active plug dome volcano. This was the best typo of our trip. It had us spotting a new kind of ground squirrel all over the place. ...
