We're all a little Nutty

There was lots going on this past week.  A sampling: Lee aborted his 4 day hike in the Wind River Range 1.5 days early because of the unrelenting rain.  We were surprised at 6:30am on Friday when he showed up at the breakfast table. He gives the in-depth version of the experience here: Wind River Hike We only had 4 soccer games instead of 6, and miraculously none of them were impeded by rain. Sam got invited to Homecoming on Tuesday (the dance was 4 days away) and picked out a dress that night, for lack of any other available time to take care of details.  Her date was such a gentleman and he melted my heart. We finally got rid of all the fruit ripening in and around our house.  Check out this ENORMOUS pear we got the other day...the green one is a little smaller than normal size. Last week at the grocery store they had 18 roses on clearance for $4.  Every once in awhile I decide I'm worth it and buy a discounted bunch of flowers to jazz up my kitchen table or bedside table.  I figure that I am the only person cheap enough to consider buying clearance flower arrangements as a splurge, but I give myself the flowers anyway.  And then thank Lee for giving them to me.  This particular arrangement was a nice assortment of bold colors -- deep reds, oranges, pinks, and yellows.  Here's what is left of them: Bragging about giving myself flowers isn't why I started writing this, though.  The funny part came on Friday night when I stopped in to grab something from my mom's house.  On HER kitchen table was a vase of 18 roses with coloring very similar to mine.  I laughed that we both had the same decor and then asked her where/why she got them.  Would you believe that she too had stopped at the grocery store (same chain, di...
