A Month in Review
There was lots going on this past week. A sampling:
Lee aborted his 4 day hike in the Wind River Range 1.5 days early because of the unrelenting rain. We were surprised at 6:30am on Friday when he showed up at the breakfast table.

We only had 4 soccer games instead of 6, and miraculously none of them were impeded by rain.
Sam got invited to Homecoming on Tuesday (the dance was 4 days away) and picked out a dress that night, for lack of any other available time to take care of details. Her date was such a gentleman and he melted my heart.
We finally got rid of all the fruit ripening in and around our house. Check out this ENORMOUS pear we got the other day...the green one is a little smaller than normal size.
And, last but not least, Lizzie (ever the entrepreneur) had the grand opening of her library. Some of us were lucky enough to win official library prizes in the drawing; Lizzie gave a motivational speech on literacy; Ian cut the ribbon; we picked out our new library cards and checked out books; and then we celebrated with library grand opening root-beer floats. Too much excitement for one day, probably.
In the rush of this week's busyness, I failed to share the fun and "excitement" we had LAST week. Here's a sampling of those adventures:
A moose greeted us at the cabin on Labor Day eve.
We climbed and hiked and ate and played with friends at the cabin.
We discovered and recovered from a small flood in Sam's room.
We celebrated Katie's birthday in the rain. Water balloon volleyball was the highlight of the festivities for all ages.
And while we're at it, let's share a couple highlights from Mckay's 16th birthday:
It was crazy hair day at his school that day, so we were surprised when Lee wrapped this ribbon around his head and Mckay agreed to wear it. He took it off for the UTA ride home, though.
His only birthday request was that it be a vegan day. Always wanting to try something new, that boy. We had soy milk with our breakfast and Mediterranean food for dinner: falafel, chickpea wraps, hummus, and tabouli. It was yummy. No one complained...hooray!
We also had dates. We weren't even trying to be witty, but it was sort of fun to report that Mckay had two dates on his 16th birthday. Just in case you were wondering, I won't be craving them anytime soon.

Looks good! Glad McKay has already had a couple of dates. Takes the pressure off later now that he's already so experienced!
ReplyDeleteI want that dress. Samantha is beautiful and has amazing taste. Lizzie is going to conquer the commercial and or literary world. McKay is awesome and quite a man about town (at least Provo). Love you all. n
ReplyDeleteGood night, you've been busy! I read Lee's account of his Wind Rivers experience--fascinating, frightening, and awesome. Was that the same storm system that caused all the flooding in Colorado? Glad he made it home safe and sound!
