DOGS HATE ME!!

As if I need one more thing to have an irrational fear of!! I thought I was being a great citizen and mother this morning by walking to school instead of driving, and thus spending quality time with my son as we walked together. After dropping him off and heading back up the hill home, I passed by a house with a dog out front (which is nothing surprising since it seems that's the norm around this hick neighborhood). I made eye contact with the beast, slowed my pace a bit, and walked on the far side of the sidewalk past him. Nevertheless, he decided I looked threatening I guess, and ran around behind me and sunk his teeth into my meaty backside! I screamed in shock and fortunately he decided I didn't taste good (kind of like sharks, I guess). A few people driving past slowed down to see what happened, but then drove on. The owner came out and I shouted, "Your dog just bit me!" Of course, as all dog owners innocently claim, "he's never done anything like that before, and he was only out for a minute...I was just coming to get him." Well, guess what? It only takes a minute. And what if it had been one of the 100s of kids that walk past to and from school each day? Or someone's face instead of butt?? It didn't tear through my pants, so I took note of her address and walked on home. It tore through my underneath layer and I now have a lovely puncture wound that feels like I sat on a nail. She claims he's current on his shots and the doctor's office said not to come in unless it gets more painful or red. Sorry, but I'm having a hard time getting a clean view of the wound, so I'm not able to evaluate it's depth properly! Anyway...I've wasted my morning filling out police reports (she's going to have to pay at least $100 to get her dog out of a mandatory 10 day quarantine) and talking on the phone for the past 2 hours, so I'm kind of depressed that I didn't get all the things done that I planned to do, but at least I'm laughing about it now and glad that it didn't turn out worse than it did. I guess this will give me empathy when my killer bunny rabbit accidently escapes and maims a passerby one day.

For your protection (and mine), there will be no photos attached with this post!

  1. Aww, Lisa! That is horrible! I'm so sorry! We have some pit bulls around our house, and they scare me for that same reason.

  3. Ouch! For that very reason I loathe it when people bring their dogs to the park unleashed and claim that it's never "done anything like that before". I'll for sure be more on guard in the future.

    Happy healing!
