Zion Traverse
I fully intended to report on our weekend hike right away, but I'm only just now recovering from the exhaustion -- mentally and physically. It's not that the hike did me in, but preparing for and recovering from ANY trip, always takes a lot out of me. So in a nutshell, here are the details: We started about 9am each morning and hiked for 7-10 hours each day, stopping whenever we needed to eat or get warm or dry out socks. OK. Sometimes it was raining or snowing and all the above reasons for stopping had to be ignored. Mostly we just had fun laughing and walking and enjoying the view and walking some more. We hiked 16 miles the first day, 14 miles on day two (in the hail and snow and rain), and 10 miles on day 3. (Those earning the hiking merit badge hiked an additional 9 miles on day one.)
