A day in the life of cuckoo head...

Who could be mad at that face?? I think this boy is going to be the end of me! I've decided that all the doors need to be closed and Ian needs to be shadowed all day...which means I don't get anything done. Here's how our morning went: While Lizzie and I were getting ready, Ian decided he needed deoderant, which he has an obsession with. He tried both drawers in my bathroom and then I shut the door so he couldn't get in, but soon he came in to my room asking for a drink. Only when he got close enough to smell did I realize that he had put some Old Spice deoderant that Mckay had hidden away -- obviously not well enough -- on his lips. No wonder he was thirsty. In the few moments left before Lizzie had to go to school, he also found a pen out of the kitchen drawer and brought it into my room, along with Lizzie's piano book. He then sat down and intended to color in it. Fortunately he was kind enough to sit by us before proceeding with his art project. (We'...

DOGS HATE ME!!

As if I need one more thing to have an irrational fear of!! I thought I was being a great citizen and mother this morning by walking to school instead of driving, and thus spending quality time with my son as we walked together. After dropping him off and heading back up the hill home, I passed by a house with a dog out front (which is nothing surprising since it seems that's the norm around this hick neighborhood). I made eye contact with the beast, slowed my pace a bit, and walked on the far side of the sidewalk past him. Nevertheless, he decided I looked threatening I guess, and ran around behind me and sunk his teeth into my meaty backside! I screamed in shock and fortunately he decided I didn't taste good (kind of like sharks, I guess). A few people driving past slowed down to see what happened, but then drove on. The owner came out and I shouted, "Your dog just bit me!" Of course, as all dog owners innocently claim, "he's never done anything lik...

Lots and lots of snow...

Copper has a little pathway that he clears to get around in his cage. Sam's bus got stuck in the snowbank left by the snowplows while trying to turn the corner. Those other kids had to stay on the bus for 1/2 hour while we dug it out. The day the bus got stuck, it snowed for 24 hours without stopping. This is at 8:30pm and it's still snowing. It was like walking through a tunnel down the sidewalk! Lizzie was thrilled that there was enough snow on the roads and sidewalks for mom to pull her to school the next day. This is on the way home. We finally made a snowman! And Sam, Dillon, and Mckay finally got to go skiing again! This video is classic. You aren't watching it for Sam's skiing prowess, but hold out til the end...

Christmas partying and some evidence that we are all, indeed, a little crazy...

I posted some other celebration pictures on pumpernickel, but here's a few more gems to start up this long-overdue blog of my own. I love this classic Lizzie giggle face. Trying out my new camera timer on Christmas Day. We enjoyed a walk in the rain on Christmas night. I'd frame this for my wall if there weren't a piano behind these guys! Send me an updated picture! Jeremy...where were you when we needed a referee?? Grace, admiring Dillon's parrot head. Here's that evidence I spoke of earlier... I love Mark's face here...it's classic Mark. Trying to stay warm despite the fact that Mom left his coat at home. "Hey, tall guy...are you my dad??" This is why I don't like to take my kids anywhere in the car...almost home from our day at the cabin.
