I Swear He's Perfectly Normal...

Image
I was looking through all the pictures I just downloaded and found this lovely series in the ones we took from the Draper Temple openhouse. Every group shot we took had Dillon making a hideous face in it. So much for capturing the beauty and serenity of the visit! I cropped them so that you could focus on the artistry. Apparently Dillon needed a little extra attention that day...

A Few of My Favorite Things...

Image
1. Who couldn't love those kids? 2. I got out the garden tools and cleaned out 1/3 of my flower beds yesterday. Now I can see the tulips trying to poke their heads through! I LOVE preparing my garden in the springtime. It is SO therapeutic for me! 3. I love spring time and fall time...maybe because that's when yardwork is the most enjoyable? 4. I love doing laundry and tomorrow is laundry day, so there's so much anticipation already! 5. My sister is getting married next month (hooray for Katie!) and because I'm so cheap, I have decided to make a dress for Lizzie. Despite the fact that I have too many balls in the air already, I am really looking forward to the challenge of sewing something beautiful. I don't do it enough and my quilting has taken a back burner to motherhood lately, so it will be a good teaser. 6. I love shopping for grocery bargains (see the aforementioned cheapness in #3). I enjoy going through the grocery ads and planning out the cheap...

At one point in the conversation, one of the women was talking about how busy she'd been all week performing musically with some of her music students at auditions. That's what she does. She sounded so exasperated with how busy her week had been, and it didn't sound fun to me. I commented that sometimes I think it's not such a bad thing to be a "dabbler" -- meaning that I know how to do lots of different things, but I'm never good enough at anything to be in high demand, so it's not really stressful. I've always described myself this way. Her reply surprised me, though, because it almost seemed like my comment had offended her, when in actuality I was trying to complement her by insinuating that I didn't have the skills she has, so no one is knocking down my door. She said...
