Surrounded by Greatness

It is that time of year again...the time that I spend more time than usual traveling to various performances and competitions.  Here's what we have so far:

Lizzie and Ian both advanced from their school STEM fairs to the district STEM fair and now to the regional STEM fair.  Lizzie spent a lot of time sitting in an empty closet measuring how her body temperature raised the temperature of a room, then coming up with mathematical formulas to explain what happened.  Ian spent a lot of time measuring water flow at a spring in a nearby park, trying to determine how many people could get water there in case of emergency.

Dillon made me laugh when he whipped out his melodica (like an accordion but you blow air into it with your mouth) during a choir performance last week.  He will do it again at Carnegie Hall in NYC in April.
(He's the glowing face with the black melodica in the center of this photo)
Lizzie's mock trial team was already eliminated from the competition, but she rocked it as one of the attorneys.  She was chosen as best attorney for all of her court appearances.

Ian has been waiting for 3 months for the finalists for the State Geography Bee to be announced.  And, what do you know?  He is one of them!  He gets to compete with 99 others from around the state over Spring Break in April.

Track season has officially begun.  The meet yesterday was cancelled after about an hour because of lightning, but I at least got to see Dillon fly for one event before the rains descended.  It never gets old.

And the biggest news of all!  Sam got accepted at UCLA for her PhD.  She will graduate in April from BYU with her Bachelor's Degree in BioInformatics and then will be in the Genetics/Genomics department at UCLA in the fall.  She is amazing!
